About WABC
West Africa Bible College had its first opening service on 12 March, 1957 in a rented room at 130, Agege Motor Road, Mushin. Its birth was the direct result of the vision and burden of its founder. Late Rev. John Wayne Brooks (an American Missionary to Nigeria) whose desire for several years had been to establish a ministerial training school in West Africa. Although the school began in a very small way with only two students, it has continued to grow year after year developing in size and quality of training.
Between 1970 – 1978, the College was inadvertently closed down. When Rev. L. A. Pfaff became the Missionary to Nigeria in 1980, the school was revived and part-time evening studies started at No.6A, Ugbewankwo Lane, Ajegunle, Apapa, with Rev. J. Idato as Dean. During this period land was purchased at Ijegun-Egba waterside, Satellite Town, Lagos for a permanent school building. The school block was completed in 1988, the same year it was dedicated (May 14, 1988).
Classes started at the permanent site on July 12, 1988, with 15 students, under the tutelage of Rev. Dr. Luke O. Nnadi, the then Academic Dean. Rev. Lawrence Pfaff labored in Nigeria from 1980 to 1988. He left the College in the faithful hands of Rev.Dr.Luke O.Nnadi and the Conference Board of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, Nigeria, because he felt that his work was done since the Nigerians are so capable and dedicated.
In January 1991, Rev.Dr. And Mrs. Willard K. Wagner came to Lagos as Missionaries to Nigeria and Field Superintendent of West Africa for the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. As the President of West Africa Bible College, he immediately began to update the College, Academically, Physically, Financially and Spiritually. From Sept.1992 to this time the staff has more than doubled to accommodate the needs of the students. The Eastern Extension was started in 1991 with 15 students and 2 instructors. The library has increased to more than 2000 volumes. Saturday Classes were started early in 1992. In year 2001 Rev. L.A. Pfaff raised fund to build two classroom block (Lawrence Pfaff block) and at present, plans are being made to construct additional buildings on the campus site for the overall operation of the College.
